Greeley Children’s Chorale
The Greeley Children's Chorale s a premier, auditioned nonprofit youth choir based in Greeley, Colorado, showcasing students in grades 2 through 8. The chorale started in 1990 after a collaboration between retired music educator Dr. Kay Copley Boyd and University of Northern Colorado (UNC) opera director Dr. Carl Gerbrandt. They needed youth voices for a local production of La Bohème and realized the immense potential for a permanent children's choir. Originally launched under the adult Greeley Chorale, the chorale has since grown into a standalone organization dedicated to nurturing and protecting the unchanged child voice while delivering high-quality vocal education. In 1994, the GCC recorded a television production of Carl Orff's The Christmas Story in English—a first-of-its-kind project that earned an International Telly Bronze Award. In recognition of its massive community impact, the choir was inducted into the Greeley Arts Legacy Hall of Fame.
